I Wonder When I’ll Learn To Read The Recipe

in Crock Pot Recipes,dinner,knitting

Bruce wanted to try a new recipe in our crock pot cookbook, so he bought all of the ingredients and left the recipe on the counter.  All I had to do was put everything into the crock pot and turn it on low.

See the part where it says “2 slices thick-cut bacon, diced”?

Yeah … I didn’t.

I just saw “thick-cut bacon, diced”.

Which prompted this discussion …

Sometimes I think my husband is a saint.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.  It definitely smells good! :)

In other news …

The pattern is starting to develop on the new afghan that I am making.  It’s neat!  I love the diagonal lines.  The pattern has been really easy to follow so far – maybe I’ll be ready for something harder next time?

And here’s some good music to kick off you Friday night right!

Melissa Ethridge and Joss Stone sung this duet at the 2005 (I think) Grammy’s. Ethridge was coming off of her breast cancer treatments and chose to play on stage without a wig. I think she looks absolutely gorgeous and full of life. What an inspiration.

TGIF! Have a great weekend. :)

Watch Me Fly

January 26, 2012

Sometimes this … … is necessary. I was driving home from New Clergy Group this afternoon and a song shuffled on my phone that I haven’t heard in awhile.  It’s called “Watch Me Fly” by Dana Parish.  I don’t think she’s that well-known, but she is extremely talented.  Listen to the song (pay attention to [...]

Afghan #2

January 25, 2012

I had dinner with a friend tonight and we shared this for dessert: Oh.My.Goodness.Gracious. Dark chocolate cake with chocolate filling with chocolate syrup. Literally. That’s chocolate X 3. With whipped cream. I’m kind of in a chocolate coma right now. So I am going to type this quickly before I fall asleep … *** I [...]

Feed The Squirrels

January 24, 2012

So I woke up this morning and the snow was gone.  Literally.  Gone.  Like – there are remnants, but my yard is green (well, winter-green not summer-green).  I guess it rained all night?  And then it was 50° today.  Holy cow. Bruce made sure all of the bird feeders were cleared off yesterday.  Seriously – [...]

Ready For Wellness

January 23, 2012

Bruce and I are spending our day off cleaning up around the house, putting away the last of our Christmas decorations (except for the candles in the windows, I like those!) and trying to relax.  I’m still trying to kick this dumb virus (I made an appointment with my doctor tomorrow – this has gone [...]

Called To Be Fishers Of People

January 22, 2012

What a great scripture to preach on! Bruce helped me out with the children’s sermon – he brought fishing rods and nets for the kids to see. Mark 1:14-20 Called To Be Fishers Of People I was looking through some old files on my computer this week and came across a folder that contained the [...]

Snow Day.

January 21, 2012

I thought we were only supposed to get three inches and it was supposed to be over by noon? Bruce was supposed to work this afternoon and he had to call and say he couldn’t get in – our road wasn’t plowed!  In the past hour or so they have started to come through with [...]
