Thank you for visiting The Strength of Faith!  My name is Sarah and I started this blog in 2008 as a way of reflecting my way through seminary and keeping up with my friends and family while I lived in Georgia.  So much has happened since then!

I am currently the Senior Pastor of the Rehoboth Congregational Church in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.  This blog is a fun way for me to reflect on life, seek balance and chronicle some of my adventures.  I tend to break most of the rules of “good” blogging, but I have a blast along the way.  And I love meeting people in this little corner of the web – if you are stopping by for the first time, please say hi!

Here are some things you should know about me …

  • I am an ordained minister.  Please don’t hold it against me.  If you have never been to church in your life and never intend to – that okay.  I believe that faith is a personal journey and resist spoon-fed Christianity in my own church.  You do not have to believe what I believe for us to get along.
  • I am an amateur photographer.
  • I have an amazing husband.
  • I preach in 4 1/2 inch heels.  Always.
  • I moved to Georgia when I was 22 years old, stayed there for 3 1/2 years and fell in love with southern hospitality.  I now say “y’all”, root for the Braves, listen to country music and think any food could be made better by frying it.  My family doesn’t know what to do with me.
  • I love James Taylor.
  • I adopted my cat, Lilly, when I was a senior in college.  We weren’t supposed to have animals in the dorm, but my roommate and I thought we could get away with it.  Somehow we did.
  • I am a closet saxophone player.
  • I started documenting food and cooking on my blog because I was such a hot mess in the kitchen when I got married.  Picture a house full of smoke, me crying and my husband grabbing his keys to pick up fried chicken from Publix.  I am thrilled to partner with Foodbuzz now, but more importantly I am grateful to have the opportunity to document my own learning process.
  • I believe peace on earth is possible.

If you would like to learn more about my journey to this point, take a look at this page, My Story.  If you are curious about the timeline of my husband and me, read Our Little Family.
