I had dinner with a friend tonight and we shared this for dessert:

Oh.My.Goodness.Gracious.

Dark chocolate cake with chocolate filling with chocolate syrup.

Literally.

That’s chocolate X 3. With whipped cream. I’m kind of in a chocolate coma right now. So I am going to type this quickly before I fall asleep …

I never got a good photo of the afghan that I finished (I snapped iPhone photos for the other post) so I pulled it out today while the light was good and took these:

Not bad for a first try!

I love the look of the basket weave pattern. And the pattern had me knitting two strands of yarn together, so the blanket is nice and thick (and warm!). I do want to try some of the other patterns in the book, but I would definitely try this one again as a gift for someone at some point.

Speaking of gifts …

(Mom, don’t look!)

I started a new afghan yesterday! I’m using a different pattern out of the book I bought, but the same difficulty level as the last one (I only need to know how to knit & purl to do it). My mom’s birthday is next month and she hinted a few times that she would love an afghan of her very own. :)

I love the color. I’ll be honest – it wasn’t what I went in the store looking for. But it’s grown on me and I love how vibrant it is, while still being very deep and rich.

This is (hopefully) what it is going to look like. The pattern doesn’t look as detailed as the first one I did, but I think it’s really going to look nice with the rich color I’m using. I’ll show you my progress (assuming I make any, ha) as I go along!
